Benedict XVI & Ahmed Mohamed el-Tayeb in a mock-up embrace for the Benetton UNHATE campaign (photo withdrawn after Vatican complaints). To my surprise, they look good together. Fondly brought to mind the Paul Simon song, "Bookends". I guess I am, after all, a romantic. Shame about the realities.

In many parts of the world, leaders historically have greeted each other with an embrace and a kiss on both cheeks. I did not find B's UNHATE project to be homoerotic...the majority of world's leaders are male, and there are a few women too. A kiss on the cheek is polite, a formal greeting. A kiss on the mouth says love(albeit PhotoShopped). Mr. Bennetton hit the nail right on the head with this media campaign.

I am a regular watcher of local and national news, but you know, information about the Benetton UNHATE campaign was never shown on the news in the U.S. Hmm, I wonder why?
